Saturday, boarding the Idun

     Up this morning and another nice breakfast up in club lounge.  Checked out of the Hilton at noon and took taxi to the cruise terminal.  There were several river cruise boats here but our Viking boat was easily found.  There were 4 very nice young men who met our taxi and took our luggage onto the boat.  After checking in they told us that our suite would not be ready until 3pm.  We went up to the lounge to wait and had a light lunch while waiting.  It was a very hot day here so Rebecca did not want to leave the boat.  I went out to see the "red light district" of Amsterdam which was right across from where the boat was docked.  My "tour" of the district was most interesting!!  Gave an new meaning to "window shopping"!  I was back on the boat by 3pm.  Exactly at 3pm they announced that the cabins were ready for us.  So from then to 5:30pm we unpacked and got cleaned up for cocktails and dinner.  Somehow we got all of Rebecca's "stuff" stowed in the drawers and small closet!
     Boat Review of Embarkation:  Viking guys met our taxi and took our luggage right onboard the boat.  Could not have been better!  No line for check in at purser's desk.  They sent us up to lounge to wait and have lunch.  Lunch was salads, sandwiches, and pasta.  Very nice.
     Cabin:  Small but nice.  We got all of our clothes stowed away.  I like the shower!
     Lounge:  Piano player is very good.  Like the bartender.  He gave me discount on my cocktail and  put our bottle of wine on ice.  Served it on a timely basis.
      Dinner:  One seating at 7pm.  Dining room is very noisy.  We sat at table for 6 initially and were only two there.  Mid dinner another couple joined us and we could not hear what they were saying.  We both had sea bass for our entree but it was wafer thin and like an appetizer serving.  I ask for more.  Portions were SUPER small.  Taste was good.  Wine service at dinner was good.
     Overall feeling first day:  NOT FOR US.  Probably last river cruse.  No Fox News just liberal CNN crap!!!  Just first day so maybe feeling will change.  We depart dock at 11:30pm.
